former iowa football star lew montgomery shares his son lucas' courageous sanfilippo journey

Back when "Sweet Lew" Montgomery was flattening Big Ten defenses on the gridiron, he never imagined that the most devastating opponent that he and his family would face was still to come, years later, when his son Lucas was diagnosed with Sanfilippo Syndrome, aka "Childhood Alzheimers".  Lew and his family decided early on, as a team, that they were going to leave a powerful and positive legacy for their son and do everything in their power to make the best of a very bad situation.  Lew and his family continue to share Lucas's story and help other Sanfilippo families along their own journeys.  In this clip, during a Sanfilippo Roundtable conversation in early 2023, Lew reflects on his journey and explains how he and his family are committed to "moving forward with him, rather than on without him".
